The opening party is where WOC+ schmoozing is at it's finest. Whether you came to the event single or with your friend, date, boo, or wife ... we’re never too tired to dance it out on opening night! 10-11:30AM - Write Hear

There is freedom in exploration.  There is release in sharing your story.  There is healing in being heard. For anyone who’s written or faced that blank page or screen, you know it’s about hearing your own voice first in order to catch it into words. Mimi Gonzalez is a nationally touring performer.  Meanwhile, poetry has been tugging at her curls and she’s finally listening.  Her engaging Latina-focused writing workshops are enjoyed by adults and youth across the country.

12-1:30PM | Feel it. Write it.

This workshop, facilitated by spoken word artist Jha D, will guide you in exploring your voice and its truth. Through writing prompts, exercises and shares you will open up your creativity. You can expect to leave the space with at minimum drafts of or strong starts to a poem, prose or short story.

2-4PM | Imagine Me, Imagine You, Imagine Us

This interactive and informative discussion will focus on you as an individual, how to effectively support for your partner without losing who you are and finally how to create and maintain a relationship where your US healthy, fulfilling and Growing!!  

   

 

 

Lorraine's4 - 5:30PM | WINE & TEQUILIA TASTING & SANGRIA MAKING!

Chef/owner Lorraine Najar shares her grandmother's recipie for making both red and white snagrias. Combine family tradition with a contemporary wine tasting and this event is not to be missed. Feel it. Speak it. Write it. Workshops to dig deep and speak your truth lead by our talented, beautiful, and soulful faciitators. Or just throw down some bones and kick back. Serious or silly it's all good when friends gather.

As a follow-up to the writing workshop (and maybe a prep for the Open Mic!) Jha D will offer tools for developing or enhancing public speaking and performance skills. With over 10 years of experience in her heart, she will share stories and guide you through exercises to nurture your comfort levels and skill sets. $10 

11AM | PTOWN SCAVENGER HUNT 

Last years participants nicknamed this event the Provincetown for Women's Amazing Race. Team up with other women and find various items all over town. A great way to make new friends and memories.

The.absolute.must.  DJ Afrika is in da house!  The pool party is THE one stop-shop for f-u-n. The poolside dancing, the ladies who are easy on the eyes, the scandalous line dancing that you will warmly remember, it is all here. Be the envy of your friends' vacations this summer (unless you had the foresight to all come together) with all the priceless pictures & video that you are sure to capture here.   $15

Welcome to Mimi’s Latina world view, where “mi caca es su caca!” This Ohio-born, Michigan-raised, Cuban-Italian American is a professional comedian of almost twenty years. There’s nowhere she won’t go to make you laugh, including Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan to entertain the US military. Just let her hold the gun. She’s from Detroit and is a pretty good shot.

Samaria (Sam Jay) Johnson has been doing comedy “for as long as I could speak”.  Her familiar personality on and off stage has allowed her to build quite the buzz in and around Boston comedy circles. This rising star has been booking shows around the country from Gotham NYC, Comedy Store LA, to the Comedy Studio in Cambridge MA,  wowing audiences with her fresh, unique, and warm approach. Sam Jay is a comedian worth seeing and one you will be talking about long after you do.

Just like Puffy would have held back in the day.  Just like a Jay-Z & Bey party.  Dress to impress-whether that is down or up is up to you. This is the grown & sexy party, just like every WOC+ event held this year. Whether you wanna Harlem Shake or lean & rock with it..from 2 step to Cupid Shuffle..our DJ plays an amazing mixture of dance hits, top 40, R& B and old school jams.
